Overview
Party Me (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an AI-powered party planning assistant for Australian families. We are committed to handling your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can access, correct, or delete it. If you have any questions, contact us at hello@partyme.com.au.
What information we collect
We may collect the following types of information:
- Account information: your email address and display name, if you choose to create a persistent account via email sign-in.
- Party details:information you share in conversation, including the birthday child’s name and age, party date, guest count, location (suburb), budget, interests, and venue preferences.
- Conversation history: the full text of your chat sessions with Party Me, including all messages you send and all responses generated.
- Usage data: device type, browser, pages visited, button clicks, and session identifiers, collected automatically via PostHog analytics.
How we collect it
- Automatic anonymous sign-in: when you first visit Party Me, we create an anonymous session so you can start planning immediately without an account.
- Optional email sign-in: you can provide your email address to create a persistent account using a one-time passcode (OTP). This lets your party plan persist across devices and sessions.
- Conversational input: party details (child name, age, interests, etc.) are collected through the chat interface as you describe your party.
- Automatic tracking: usage data is collected automatically by PostHog when you use the app.
Why we collect it
- To provide the service: your party details and conversation history are used to generate personalised party suggestions and maintain your to-do list.
- To improve the service: anonymised usage analytics help us understand how the app is used and where we can make it better.
- To communicate with you: if you contact us by email, we will use your email address to respond.
Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share data with the following third-party service providers to operate Party Me. Some of these providers are located overseas (APP 8 disclosure):
- Supabase — database and authentication hosting. Your account data, conversation history, and party details are stored on Supabase infrastructure hosted in AWS ap-southeast-2 (Sydney, Australia).
- Anthropic (US)— AI processing. Your chat messages, including any party details shared in conversation, are sent to Anthropic’s servers in the United States to generate responses. Anthropic may process this data in accordance with their Privacy Policy.
- PostHog (US/EU) — product analytics. Anonymised usage data (device type, session events, page views) is sent to PostHog servers in the United States or European Union. PostHog does not receive your conversation content or party details.
- OpenRouter (US) — AI processing for staging and development environments only. If you use our staging or preview environment, your messages may be processed by OpenRouter (US) rather than Anthropic. This does not apply to the production app at chat.partyme.com.au.
By using Party Me, you acknowledge that your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside Australia, including the United States, which may not have equivalent privacy protections to Australian law. We take reasonable steps to ensure our providers handle your data responsibly.
AI-assisted suggestions
Party Me uses Claude AI (provided by Anthropic) to generate party suggestions and recommendations. These suggestions are provided to help you plan — they are not professional advice (venue, catering, safety, or otherwise). You remain in control of all decisions at all times. The AI does not make binding decisions on your behalf.
Data retention
- Authenticated accounts: your data is retained until you request deletion.
- Anonymous sessions: anonymous session data (created automatically on first visit) is cleared when you sign out or your session expires.
Access, correction & deletion
You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. To exercise these rights, email us at hello@partyme.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable time and in accordance with the APPs.
Notifiable data breaches
We comply with the Notifiable Data Breaches (NDB) scheme under the Privacy Act 1988. If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as soon as practicable.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we handle your personal information, please contact us first at hello@partyme.com.au. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of Party Me after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
